Welcome to NoticeGod.com. My name is Byron Stine. I am a Bible enthusiast, student of history, and practicing mystic. In this blog, together we will explore the Holy Bible, it’s passages, and what they mean to you. This is blog is not intended for me to preach to you what your take-aways are from The Holy Bible, but rather an opportunity for all of us to take the time to go through the passages from start to finish. Why? This is sort of an experiment to see how we as a community interpret the passages of the most printed book in history and see if their is anything that we might be able to learn in a somewhat different way than the type of exposure to scripture you’d get in a church.
We are not attempting to say that churches have it right or wrong. There are so many denominations with different styles of teaching about scripture and the time when Jesus walked the earth. I’ve attended many churches from Orthodoxy and Catholic to Presbyterian and The Church of the Nazarenes. Each church has its opinion on how to teach The Bible and how to study The Bible. Some will probably even say that this blog is heresy or apocrypha-tic. Well, it is not my intention to offend anyone or any church. As it is my belief that God gave us a brain for a reason. That is to use it. A wise woman told me once, “each church has it’s place for where the person is at in their life.” I follow that philosophy. After all, The Holy Bible is a great story full of history, conflict, triumph, emotion, and knowledge. Therefor, regardless of what your current relationship is with any church, I’m sure every Christian church would agree that at least cracking open the pages that their faith is built upon is a good place to start. So let’s start that exploration together.
In this blog I will be using the English version of The Universal Holy Bible. There are a plethora of different bibles out there with different wordings, omissions, and rewrites. Some of the most popular are the Catholic Bible, King James Version (KJV), New Version International (NVI), and Orthodox. And there are many other Holy Bibles in between to varying degrees of translations. Each version has different points where passages can be interpreted differently. So we are at the mercy of the people who translated it from Aramaic and Hebrew into our languages. That being said, it is really important that we do our best to respect that on just that premise alone, there will be different understandings just from syntax alone. Then add our own muddled lives, distractions, and levels of learning it makes for a messy experience. But I want everyone to just have fun. RESPECT others difference regardless of how absurd you might think of their interpretation. You might learn to stretch your own mind and understanding. Have patience. We aren’t here to judge. This is not a forum to boast your ego, but rather to share, learn, and most importantly have fun. Oh! Please no curse words or lewd comments. I’d hate to have to take down a meaningful post that might be littered with offensive language. After all we don’t know who is reading it on the other side of the screen. Remember that kids use the internet too.
Ok. Grab whatever version of The Bible you want bring along with you and let’s start our journey. I’ll see you at the beginning: Genesis 1:1.
